Our client, located in Euclid, Ohio is searching for a team leader to reshape their inbound logistics strategy. They receive up to 100 shipments per week from vendors throughout the Eastern half of the United States. Each shipment is a unique package pre-owned manufacturing equipment. They use full trucks, partial trucks, standard trailers, specialized trailers, flat beds, and vans. Our shipments range from simple pickups at repeat customers to complicated one time pick-ups.
PRIMARY PURPOSE: Responsible for the routing of inbound trucks in coordination with Buyers, Vendors, and Operations. This includes pickup and delivery information, loading time and locations, directions to locations and freight information, proper loading. Additional key duties include, building solid partnerships with carriers that will benefit the organization, coordinating negotiations on freight rates, executing, expediting and monitoring proper routing, and documents. The expectation is to quickly grow into a supervisory role. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for carrier selection and notification of daily shipping.
Ensure that the lowest cost to deliver decisions are made during the purchasing process by working cross-functionally with Buyers, Vendors and Carriers
Hire carriers and dispatch carriers.
Monitor loading process at the pickup points to assure timely receiving of product, troubleshoot any problem on loads.
Communicate within the facility in regards to all truck issues on a daily basis.
Participate in setting carriers’ standards and policies.
Establish, maintain and grow relationships with carriers.
Provide assistance with any issues related to Logistics.
Ability to cube trucks while maximizing capacity of trailer and keeping truck within legal weight.
Match up the right loads with the right carriers at the right rates.
Partner with buyers to help manage customer expectations.
Insures shipment tracking & tracing and other inquiries including rate quotes and special requests.
Must exercise a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion and decision-making to analyze problems, implement appropriate solutions and build solid partnerships
Excellent communication, analytical and problem solving skills
Supervise and analyze inbound truckload shipments
Utilize multiple modes of transportation and ability to negotiate rates and service commitments.
Must be a self-starter, with ability to work well as part of a team and independently
Effectively interact with individuals at all levels within and outside the company
