The Cost / Accounting Analyst is responsible for accurate and complete inventory, COGS and Fixed Assets valuations. This position will maintain accurate costing including new product setup, cost rolls, monthly reconciliation of inventory and other month-end close responsibilities as assigned. He/She will also ensure all assigned inventory, fixed asset and other accounting transactions are completed on a timely basis and accurately maintained in order to support the financial reports provided to the Executive team to make strategic business decisions.
Establishes and maintains standard costs, including annual cost roll process and any other modifications throughout the year
Analyzes changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided, to determine effects on cost
Reconciles perpetual inventory listings to general ledger inventory quantities and values, on a monthly basis
Develops and implements improved monthly analysis of production variances, inventory transfers, scrap, inventory revaluation, PPV and other costs of goods sold components
Investigate coting issues and questions
Prepare annual materials cost budget
Performs monthly inventory close that includes, but is not limited to analysis of Labor & Overhead, Paint Inventory Consumption
Reviews Excess and Obsolete inventory on a quarterly basis and provides report-out to various levels within the organization
Assists with and monitors the monthly close process.
Analyzes internal account entries and balances for compliance to corporate policies, US GAAP and IRS regulations.
Generates customized financial reports and analysis as requested.
Prepares and provides required documentation for internal and external audits.
Education and Training:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or combination of education, training and related experience required.
Minimum three (3) years related experience required.
Excellent proficiency in MS Office applications, primarily Excel and Lotus Notes.
Extensive experience using automated accounting and financial reporting systems (SAP experience preferred, or similar ERP)
Broad knowledge base of preferred accounting principles, concepts, practices, processes and procedures.
