Our client, located in Mentor, Ohio is searching for an Assistant Controller. The Assistant Controller offers support within the organization is to provide financial management, financial reporting, and compliance. This position directs financial activities, compliance direction and financial operating performance reporting.
Provide leadership, expertise and oversight to general accounting, payroll and accounts payable.
Collaborate with the CFO and Human Resources regarding staff development and the planning, organization, and implementation of training programs.
Monitor and evaluate the performance and development of accounting and other financial staff, recommending and implementing personnel actions, such as promotions and dismissals.
Establish operational department goals, monitor, and track goal attainment. Cascade goals of the CEO and CFO into individual goals to staff members.
Oversee the operations of the department. Develop operating strategies, plans, organizational policies or procedures.
Support the CFO to provide the COO with to provide program financial data and cost analysis support, and compliance with all contractual and programmatic requirements. This includes system monitoring compliance.
Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.
Develop and maintain a financial reporting system that meets all generally accepted accounting principles.
Develop and maintains systems of internal controls to safeguard financial assets of the organization and oversee the coordination and activities of independent auditors and other external auditors.
Ensure the Finance Department is following governmental and regulatory requirements; and maintains liaison with appropriate regulatory and funding bodies.
Ensure that the requirements of payers, state agencies and accrediting agencies are fully met.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred)
Three years of financial experience and management experience with the day-to-day financial operations of the organization
Three years of budgeting and financial reporting in a behavioral healthcare environment with proven success with effective operation within budget constraints
Experience in Non-Profit or Healthcare (preferred)
