The Accounting/Tax Analyst assists the company with direct and indirect tax compliance. He/She will be responsible for all monthly, quarterly and annual Indirect Tax Functions (Sales & Use Tax, Property Tax, Business Licenses). Income Tax returns and compliance are outsourced, but this position supports their efforts and is responsible for estimates and payments. This position should have the ability to research, study, interpret and apply local, state and federal tax laws. This position will also be responsible for all Intercompany-related accounting and analysis of foreign exchange impacts.
Ensures all Sales & Use tax returns are filed accurately and timely according to the requirements of each state and/or locality.
Coordinates outsourced income tax preparation work.
Performs nexus reviews and ensures proper registration in all applicable localities.
Assists with Intercompany transfer pricing matters (Canada)
Keeps up to date with tax changes and industry trends by participating in educational opportunities, participating in professional organizations, and reading professional publications.
Resolves SAP related issues associated with Intercompany, Foreign Currency Translation and Sales Tax.
Perform analysis/reconciliations of balance sheet and miscellaneous P&L accounts on a monthly basis, and review and resolve variances. Provide feedback and guidance to ledger owners based on findings.
Analyzes internal account entries and balances for compliance to corporate policies, US GAAP and IRS regulations.
Generates customized financial reports and analysis as requested.
Prepares and provides required documentation for internal and external audits.
Analyzes foreign currency impact to the company’s overall performance.
Education and Training:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or combination of education, training and related experience required.
CPA and/or MBA desirable.
Minimum three (3) years related experience required.
Excellent proficiency in MS Office applications, primarily Excel and Lotus Notes.
Extensive experience using automated accounting and financial reporting systems. SAP preferred but will consider similar ERP experience.
Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and State / Local tax requirements and ability to research and apply.
