3rd Shift Maintenance Technician (Located in Willoughby, OH)

Our client is a leading provider of labeling, promotional, tracking, and identification solutions for numerous industries, including consumer goods products, industrial, healthcare, and automotive. We are looking for a skilled maintenance technician with strong mechanical and electrical engineering experience. This position is responsible for completing maintenance work orders that include conducting machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs, scheduled and unscheduled preventive maintenance service, machine asset management, storeroom inventory management, and facilities maintenance.

 THIS POSITION IS FOR 2ND SHIFT: MONDAY THRU THURSDAY 3:00 PM TO 1:30 AM.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Use established work orders system in company’s SharePoint to complete and address maintenance-related service requests work orders.
  • Create, establish, and maintain preventative maintenance program by asset class as well as for maintenance department.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of flexographic production equipment during production; perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  • Prepare and set up machinery for scheduled production runs.
  • Perform mechanic skills including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of packaging and production machines.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Perform typical maintenance tasks to support the floor and the entire facility.
  • Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
  • Perform prescribed preventative maintenance on machinery and the building or grounds as required.
  • Maintain storeroom inventory program and create best-in-class practices.
  • Monitor and maintain all building systems, as assigned.
  • Prepare and record maintenance reports.
  • Analyze work processes and equipment to make recommendations for improved processes and efficiencies.
  • Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment.
  • Dismantle defective machines, equipment, and install new or repaired parts.
  • Clean the equipment and individual parts, including bearings and gears.
  • Assist in monitoring all work performed by outside contractors.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by practicing good work habits, housekeeping procedures, and adhering to safety guidelines.
  • Wear all proper protective equipment as required in work and in accordance with Safety Policy and OSHA standards.
  • Comply with OSHA safety and health rules and regulations.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.

Skills:

  • Must be able to operate material handling equipment (e.g., hand truck, pallet jack, forklift, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of electronics and programmable logic control (PLC).
  • Working knowledge of electrical fundamentals, power transmissions, pneumatic and hydraulic components.
  • Ability to read and interpret prints and drawings (blueprints, schematics, CAD, technical drawings)
  • Willingness to learn and expand knowledgebase and experience.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Creative, innovative, and strategic thinker with the ability to analyze problems and determine the best solution in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently with little supervision who understands the importance of teamwork.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, pull, move, and lift up to 50 lbs. in a production environment.
  • Willing to work all scheduled hours and required overtime, which may include evenings and weekends.

Education Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent with Military/Trade/Technical/Vocational training encompassing the following:

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary technical/vocational coursework
  • 3 years maintenance mechanic experience in a flexographic printing environment

Hourly Rate: $22-$26/hour
